Eric Homansky - President
Eric currently serves as the President and is new to the SSC board in 2013. He is a Smyrna resident with two young boys, one of which currently plays on a recreational U-6 team. Eric is the Physical Education teacher at Nickajack Elementary School where he is entering his 12th year of teaching. As a player, Eric played high school and club ball in Savannah and continued through college at Armstrong Atlantic State University. He has also spent many years coaching everything from U-4 and U-6 with SSC to higher level Athena and Classic teams with Kennesaw FC. "My vision at SSC is to see the recreational program continue to grow and develop with a direct path to the Academy and Select programs. A curriculum will be implemented at the younger age groups to develop basic skills and coaches will receive continuous support from professional coaches."
Jon Anderson - Vice President
Jon currently serves in the Vice President position and is new to the SSC board in 2013. For the last five years Jon has worked as the Director of Procurement & Center Development at Vantage Oncology. Prior to this, Jon served as a Capital Planning Manager at Coca Cola Enterprises. In 1991 Jon attended Manukau Polytech in New Zealand to gain a National Certificate in Business. In 1999 Jon graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BS in Economics. More recently he graduated from Kennesaw State University with an MBA in Business. As a player, Jon came through the youth ranks with one of New Zealand’s biggest and most elite youth clubs – Pakuranga Town. He eventually made the clubs ‘First Team’ at 17 and along the way played for the Auckland Schoolboys, made the NZ U-19 Resident Camp, as well as spending time in England with Everton and Tranmere Rovers (Youth Training Schemes & Reserves). Jon transferred to Central United for one season before being recruited to the USA and the University of South Carolina. Jon has coached at NASA and GSA in the past and his teams have won numerous national tournaments and state cups. “My vision for SSC is to become more professional and to provide a good soccer platform for advanced players, as well as for the social players who want to feel part of a sporting organization. SSC has tremendous facilities and a large youth membership so it is my desire to build on these to create a strong community based club that will benefit benefit Smyrna residents.”
Jay Varma - Treasurer
Jay has been a member in good standing with the SSC for over 9 years. During that period, Jay has coached for 2 years, served as the Secretary on the Board of Directors and is now currently serving as the Treasurer. Jay has been a Financial Advisor since 2006 and has an MBA in Finance and International Business from Georgia State University. Jay has a son and a daughter that have been playing at SSC since they were 4 and now play on the U15 and U13 Select teams.
Shon Casey - Secretary
Shon currently serves in the Secretary position and is new to the SSC board in 2013. For the last fifteen years Shon has worked in the IT industry selling server, storage and networking hardware to Fortune 1000 companies. Shon graduated from the University of Georgia in 1997 with a BS in Business/Marketing. As a player, Shon played from 5 years old playing Rec and Premier ball as he got older. Ultimately Shon hung up his cleats after 3 years of Varsity Soccer at his high school. Shon currently has one son in Smyrna soccer and another joining the club next year. “My vision for SSC is to offer our members a more well rounded club. I want every player, both boys and girls at every skill level to feel like they have a home in Smyrna."
